Christian Norgaard has no problems playing in defence after a successful cameo at the back in Brentford’s 2-2 draw with Blackburn on Saturday.
At 2-0 down Thomas Frank replaced Juian Jenavier with Mads Roerslev, switching to a more attacking 3-4-3.
This meant the Dane dropped back between Henrik Dalsgaard and Ethan Pinnock at the back.
You can argue the witch worked as strikes from Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma earned the Bees a point.
“I’m not disappointed with Julian, he’s a better defender than Christian but Christian is a better ball player,” Frank said.
“He looked fantastic, he gives us an edge, a passing calmness of building from behind.
“We’ve been training it as an offensive solution.
“At the end of the game if we need more offensive power it’s a great option to have.”
Norgaard admitted it was the first time he’s been deployed at the back in his career, but that he’s also not a stranger to the role.
“I’ve never played centreback, I’ve trained there with Fiorentina and I’ve been training here,” he said.
“It’s a good thing to have if we have to attack a bit more, I don’t mind it.
“Between Ethan and Henrik, they talk to me.
“There’s not much difference between the six(position), you just need to be a lot more aware of the line of the defence which is a bit hard.
“But it worked out well in the second half and we did what we set out to do.”
With promotion hopefuls Fulham and Nottingham Forest both drawing their fixtures, it was a case of as you were for the Bees, who stay fourth, six points behind Leeds in second spot.
Norgaard, admitted there were mixed feelings regarding the point which made it three draws in three fixtures.
“It’s a bit of both, two points dropped and one point gained,” he said.
“At 2-0 down, it’s always good to get a draw, but home against Blackburn, after drawing two times in a row, we wanted to win.
“We showed character but we created enough chances to win it as well.”
“We just want to win every game.
“It’s frustrating to get three points out of a possible nine, but you get spells like this in the season but there’s a lot of positive to take from it.”
Brentford travel to Luton midweek before heading to Cardiff next Saturday.
