Christian Norgaard felt Brentford did well to take a point off a superior Leeds team at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.
Leeds captain Liam Cooper cancelled out Said Benrahma’s opener to share the points, but with 67% possession, the visitors will feel they should’ve left West London with more.
Midfielder Norgaard, whose side would’ve leapfrogged their opponents into second with a win, felt Marcelo Bielsa’s side showed just why they are near the summit of the league despite a recent blip in form.
“It’s a point won today, credit to Leeds they did well,” he said.
“It’s the first time a team have come here, I wouldn’t say dominate us, but had the ball more than us and created more chances.
“So we’ll take the point.”
With 15 goals and four wins from their last six, Brentford have been in sparkling form, but against Leeds Norgaard felt Thomas Frank’s men failed to hit the standards they’ve set this season.
“I think it was a combination of them being at a very high level and us not being where we are supposed to be,” the Dane added.
“We were not calm enough or cool enough with the ball and maybe gave them too much space without the ball at times.
“I wouldn’t say they caught us by surprise, but it’s a bit of a weird feeling, because I probably expected us to dominate the ball a bit more."

Quizzed on how Brentford were unable to impose their free-flowing football on the visitors, the 25-year-old complimented the way Leeds matched up against the Bees.
“If they are at their best, which I think they were, they’re hard to play against,” he continued.
“It’s hard with and without the ball, so I don’t think we found our game, and made it too easy for their centre halves to bring it forward.
“Their full-backs as well, driving with the ball sometimes half the length of the pitch.
“We defended quite well, bearing in mind they attack with a lot of players.
“But it’s something you have to get used and prepare well because they are the only team in the league that does it like they do.
“There’s always things you can be disappointed about, like conceding a goal at the set piece quite close to half time, there would’ve been a different dynamic and energy in the team if we went in ahead at the break, but it was a tough game and I think it was a good point won.”
Brentford travel to Birmingham on Saturday.
