Romantic intrigue, mistaken identity and a runaway horse will all be amusing audiences when the play Dandy Dick comes to Richmond Theatre this summer.
The play, heading to the West End later this year, is the Theatre Royal Brighton Production Company’s first play of their inaugural season.
Dandy Dick, an Arthur Wing Pinero comedy, tells the tale of Very Reverend Augustin Jedd, a man of the cloth who is drawn into the darker side of life by his habitual gambler sister Georgiana.
Director Christopher Luscombe was excited to be bringing a classic British play back to a wider audience more than 20 years after its last stage outing.
He said: “We’re thrilled to be staging Dandy Dick, a glorious British comedy written 125 years ago in Brighton, as the first production for Theatre Royal Brighton Productions’ opening season. “It is a rarely seen treasure that so richly deserves to be enjoyed by modern audiences in search of quality and entertainment in an evening out at the theatre.”
Dandy Dick, Richmond Theatre, The Green, Richmond TW9 1QJ, Tuesday, July 10, to Saturday, July 14, tickets from £15, performance times vary, call 0844 8717651 or visit atgtickets.com/richmond.
