Richmond library was closed today because it was too cold.
Keen reader Steven Cain, 54, of North Road, Kew, said he was shocked when he went to the library this morning and found a sign saying "the library is closed because of low temperatures".
Mr Cain said: "I'm a member of Richmond library and thought I would go and get some books out only to find it was closed because of the low temperatures.
"I could get out [of the house] so it's not that cold."
A council spokesman confirmed the library, on Richmond Green, had been shut until 2.30pm today as there was a problem with heating and it was too cold to open.
