Forecasters tonight downgraded the threat of heavy snow in Richmond overnight to "light snow showers".
Earlier today the Met Office predicted heavy snowfall in the borough from about 3am onwards.
Current forecasts now say light snow is expected tonight and early tomorrow.
Temperatures will stay at about 0C overnight with a low of -1C but could reach as low as -4C by Friday.
The Met Office today issued a severe weather warning for London and the south-east.
Richmond Council has said it is confident it has enough salt to grit the roads.
It has more than 2,000 tons of grit stockpiled at its depot in Twickenham ready to spread on icy roads and pavements.
The Met Office said visibility on the roads would be "very poor" by tomorrow.
