Heavy snow is forecast to fall in Richmond in the early hours of tomorrow.
The Met Office is predicting light snow at midnight followed by bouts of heavy snowfall from 3am until about 3pm.
Temperatures look set to plunge to 0C overnight and could reach as low as -2C by tomorrow night and -4C by Friday.
The Met Office today issued a severe weather warning for London and the south-east.
Richmond Council has said it is confident it has enough salt to grit the roads.
It has more than 2,000 tons of grit stockpiled at its depot in Twickenham ready to spread on icy roads and pavements.
The Met Office said visibility on the roads would be "very poor" by tomorrow.
