Water supplies were restored to homes in the St Margarets and Teddington area last night after flooding hit the area.
A burst water main in London Road, Hounslow, had led to low water pressure - or no water at all - in nearby Richmond yesterday as Thames Water tried to fix a 30in rupture.
At 6pm, 12 hours after the initial flooding started, Thames Water confirmed that water supplies were back to normal.
The 6am pipe burst had caused severe flooding and road closures between Syon Lane and Bush Corner in Brentford.
A spokeswoman for Thames Water said: "Water supplies have been restored to west London customers disrupted by our work to fix a broken water main on London Road, Hounslow.
"The burst was on a strategic water main that serves thousands of people. We have turned the water off in this pipe and we are starting the job of fixing it, which will take up to 48 hours.
"But we have re-routed water into the area affected from other parts of our network."
The spokeswoman added that once the pipe was fixed it would take a week to rebuild the road on top of the water main and apologised to homeowners who had been affected.
She added: "Anyone affected by flooding who has not been contacted by a loss adjuster is advised to call our customer centre on 08459200800.
"Again, we're really sorry to all those affected."
