A party was held to mark five years to the day since the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice opened its care facility and the first child to enter the home was one of the guests of honour.
Shooting Star House, in The Avenue, Hampton, opened on August 5, 2005, to provide care for children who are terminally ill or have life-limiting conditions and five years on Jordan Barfoot, 10, who was the first child in, cut a cake to mark the occasion.
Brian Stewart, acting chief executive, said: “We are thrilled that families who have been with us since the beginning were there today to mark such an exciting milestone for Shooting Star.
“I would also like to thank our patrons and trustees who helped us celebrate, as well as all the staff who worked so hard to make it such a memorable day.”
Other guests included families who have been cared for since the opening of Shooting Star House, Laura Hamilton, a presenter on children’s TV channel Nickelodeon and patron Bobby Davro.
