Wildlife fans are being urged to remember their cameras when they next visit the WWT London Wetland Centre.
The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) has relaunched its annual photography competition and is offering tips to budding nature photographers at the centre in Barnes.
And as an extra incentive, the trust is offering top prizes to the winners, including a day spent learning about how to take the perfect snap with photographer and TV presenter Chris Packham and a four-night stay in New York to go birding along the Great Lakes Seaway trail.
The trust’s chief executive, Martin Spray, said: “WWT’s wetland centres have an enviable reputation among budding wildlife photographers because you really can get nose-to-beak with a lot of the birds.
“We want more of our visitors to enjoy the buzz of taking a great photo so we’ve worked with Chris Packham to develop some top tips for beginners and enthusiasts alike.”
The categories include wetland landscapes, people and wildlife and quirky.
As in previous years the first round of judging will take place at each of WWT’s nine wetland centres.
The chosen entrants will be invited to a winners day with Chris Packham at the Barnes centre where the national winners will be announced.
Entrants can post their images online at the website.
Visitors can also vote for their favourite images and the People’s Choice Awards will be given for the photos which receive the most votes.
