Thousands of people could miss out on attending the Help for Heroes concert because permission for 60,000 fans to attend has not yet been granted.
An application to increase Twickenham Stadium’s concert capacity from the current 55,000 to 60,000 has not yet been approved by Richmond Council, despite the concert organisers boasting 60,000 people will be able to attend and putting tickets on sale this week.
The application asks for the capacity to be increased for the one-off charity gig on the condition it will finish no later than 10.15pm – 15 minutes earlier than normal concert finishing times at the stadium.
This report states the extra 15 minutes will allow the audience to take two extra trains from Twickenham to Waterloo.
The Rugby Football Union will also have to pay the council £9,600 towards transport management and additional council officer time, as part of the agreement. Council officers recommended the application be approved by the planning committee, which is due to meet at 6.30pm on Thursday at York House.
