A 79-year old daredevil shows you are never too old to learn new tricks by scaling a 40ft climbing wall.
Edie Purdue showed she was not quite ready to put her feet up as she climbed the wall at the Retirement Show, held at London’s Olympia arena.
The Twickenham resident said: “I didn’t make the top but I really enjoyed it. It was great fun and my family could not believe I had done that, especially since I have wobbly legs.”
Tony Clack, managing director of Laterlife.com, which was responsible for the climbing wall, revealed more than 200 climbers in their 60s and 70s had taken on the challenge at the event, held last month.
He said: “Edie of course was exceptional, but nevertheless she was a perfect example of how modern people are facing their senior years with a completely new attitude.”
