The wild ways of a group of pupils has put their school in with the chance of winning a £10,000 garden.

Hampton Hill Junior School has been shortlisted to go through to the final round of the Veolia Wild Green School competition, which gives schools in London the chance to win a wildlife garden.

As part of the competition, sponsored by Veolia Environment, pupils were asked to design their own garden and explain how they would maintain it.

The final judging will be held in the autumn, when teachers, parents and pupils of the school in St James’ Avenue will present their ideas for a garden to a judging panel, and Veolia employees will vote to decide the winner.

The winning school will see its design realised by the London Wildlife Trust and the garden will be completed by spring 2011.
