Police have issued CCTV images of a serial armed bank robber after he struck again last week.

The man tried to rob Barclays in High Street, Hampton Hill, at about 2.30pm last Thursday – but left empty-handed.

He has already succeeded in robbing Barclays in Teddington twice and police believe he is responsible for two further attempted robberies.

Detectives from Barnes Flying Squad – the Metropolitan Police’s armed robbery investigation division – are looking into the incidents, the first of which took place on May 20, 2009, at Halifax in London Road, Twickenham.

The two robberies at the Teddington Barclays, in The Causeway, took place at about 3.50pm on April 1, and at about 12.15pm on May 27.

On April 1, the man queued in the bank before handing over a note demanding money and leaving with handfuls of cash – described by police as “a substantial amount” and believed to be about £2,000.

He returned on May 27, handed over another note – telling staff he had a gun in a carrier bag and would shoot them or customers.

He again left with a bag full of money.

He is also wanted in connection with attempted robberies at Halifax in Whitton and Santander in Twickenham on July 17, 2009.

Officers are searching for the man, who is believed to be 45 to 55 years old and speaks with a London accent.

He also wore glasses during the robberies.

He is about 5ft 10in, of medium to heavy build and has blemishes on his skin.
