POLICE are again urging people not to leave their car keys near the front door, after a quarter of a million pound worth of vehicles were stolen through letterbox theft last weekend.
Thieves mostly target high value cars and place an implement through the letterbox to hook up any keys which owners have left hanging near the door or lying on a table.
Over just three days March 26 to 28 this method was used to steal seven cars in the borough, totalling £250,000 - including a Porsche 911, Land Rover, Mercedes and BMW.
