A LETTER from the Queen was received by a resident in Kew who celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday.
Kay Cobb, who lives at Cecil Court residential home, enjoyed the day with her son and daughter-in-law, her grand-daughter and the other residents and staff.
There was a party in her honour with music and entertainment from Brian Short - a music company from Twickenham. Ms Cobb was born in Nottingham, where she lived and worked as a secretary until the age of 21.
She then moved to London to take up nursing. However, after 10 months she returned to Nottingham to work on the local newspaper. On marrying in 1934 she came back to London and has lived in the Twickenham area ever since and was an active member of The Friends of Hampton and Twickenham Cottage Hospitals.
