THE OFFICIAL opening of the newly refurbished nursery unit at St Paul's Church of England Primary School was heralded by a visit from the distinguished Bishop of Kensington, Right Reverend Michael Colclough and other members of the local community last Friday.

Melvin Collins, Vice Chair of Governors welcomed the Bishop and he was given the honour of cutting the ceremonial ribbon.

After the ceremony, the school singing group, led by Mrs Cossar and Ms McConnell, entertained the assembled group.

The Bishop was also introduced to some of the nursery children who were eager to show him their work.

Mrs James, Headteacher, thanked all those who had made generous donations towards the building refurbishment and gave special praise to the parents and friends association, who had raised almost £15,000 over the last two years, as well as local business, Somerfields Supermarket who donated a magnificent £1,000. "Without such support the refurbishment of the school could not take place," she added.

The school is now undergoing the last phase of refurbishment, which includes newly decorated classrooms for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, completing the transformation of the school and providing an exceptionally refreshing environment for the children to develop in.
