A MAN from Hounslow has been found guilty of the murder of a student outside a nightclub in Ealing Broadway, despite fleeing to Canada.

Tyrone Darryl Woolley, 22 of Benson Close, and Jack Dempsey, also 23, both received life sentences for the stabbing of student Paul Carr in January last year when they appeared at the Old Bailey earlier this week. Stacey Faunch, 21, was acquitted of murder and affray.

The 25-year-old Carr and two friends had been in the Boulevard Nightclub in High Street, Ealing and left at around 2am, when after walking along the High Street they turned right into Ealing Broadway shopping centre.

Walking in front of Paul and his two friends were a group of two to three females followed by a further two males; these groups were believed to be known to each other.

Paul approached one of the women and engaged in conversation with her. The two groups walked to Oak Road by Ealing Broadway.

At this point an altercation occurred resulting in Paul allegedly assaulting the woman. The two men accompanying the women intervened, a knife was produced by one of them and threats were made against Paul.

Paul then ran off along Ealing Broadway back towards the High Street with the two men in pursuit.

He attempted to gain entry to a lap dancing club called LA Confidential but was refused access and was subsequently attacked outside the club, which resulted in his stabbing.

Paul's two attackers then made off back towards the Broadway Centre and were last seen exiting the centre.

London Ambulance Service took Paul to New Ealing Hospital where he was pronounced dead a little over an hour later.

Woolley was arrested at Metrowest, Toronto, Canada, in November by officers from SCD1(West).
