The borough's latest strategies for tackling crime were unveiled when Lord Toby Harris, chair of the Metropolitan Police Association, visited Hounslow on Monday.

Members of the Hounslow Community Safety Partnership presented achievements and planned initiatives to Lord Harris during a meeting from 2.30pm in the Council Chamber, Civic Centre, Lampton Road.

Police Borough Commander Jeff Harris and the London Borough of Hounslow's chief executive Mark Gilks were present.

Anne Maloney, Head of the Council's Community Safety and Crime Reduction Unit, said the partnership had worked hard to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour within the borough and had achieved excellent results.

"Anti-social behaviour has been a major focus for the partnership and Hounslow is among the top London borough's for obtaining post-conviction anti-social behaviour orders against community troublemakers. We have successfully obtained nine orders and more than 60 acceptable behaviour contracts. We have also stepped up outreach work in local hot spots to tackle destructive behaviour, drugs, and race crime."

The Hounslow Community Safety Partnership is an integrated partnership comprising the crime disorder reduction partnership (CDRP), youth offending service and the drugs and alcohol action team, all working together to move forward the crime and substance misuse agendas. Members of the CDRP include LB Hounslow, Police Service, Hounslow PCT, London Probation Service, Fire Service and representatives from the voluntary sector and the business community.
