A HESTON school has been praised for its good education and continuous improvement by government inspectors.

The inspectors from Ofsted found that teaching at Springwell Infant and Nursery School was especially good, with pupils achieving well against schools in similar circumstances.

Pupils at Springwell are eager to learn, according to the inspectors' report, because lessons are interesting and capture the imagination. In addition the diverse culture at the school, where many new pupils are learning English as an additional language, is valued very highly.

Inspectors found pupils behave very well', and that the school was an exciting place to learn', promoting high standards of achievement. Good teaching was highlighted, as were effective community links.

Headteacher Christine Norris said she was planning to use the report as a springboard for future success: "I'm very pleased with the inspection report, especially as it has resulted from the very hard work of teachers, pupils and parents. We've focussed very hard on ensuring that all pupils can achieve their potential and this has brought a very good atmosphere to the school.

The governors and teachers at the school will be working to ensure that we can continue to be an effective school."
