A WOMAN had her bag stolen by a group of opportunist youths in Feltham after she took her mobile phone out of her bag to read a text message near Feltham train station.
The incident occurred at 5.35pm on Friday March 26 on New Road in Feltham when the 29-year-old woman was on her way home.
The victim had just crossed the road from Station Approach and was walking past St Giles Hotel when she received a text message on her mobile phone.
As she took the phone out of her bag, she noticed a group of seven or eight youths walking towards her. One suspect tried to snatch the phone as they walked passed her but it fell to the floor. As she bent down to pick it up, another youth grabbed her sports bag worth £20 containing all her personal belongings.
The group of thieves then decamped in the direction of the station but the victim, undeterred, tried to chase them and shouted to other members of the public to help her and stop the youths escaping but no one came to her aid and they eventually got away. The lads were described as 14 to 16 years old and some were wearing baseball caps.
