HOUNSLOW Councillors have gone down in the history of Lahore - not only for the recent town twinning, but also because of the sporting feat of one of the borough's members.
As a final page of the successful town twinning with Lahore, the Mayor, Cllr Roger Clarke agreed to undertake a presentation on the behalf of the prestigious Lahore Gymkana Club by presenting a special trophy to Cllr Mohamed Chaudary.
As one of the delegates at the ceremony to mark the twinning of Hounslow with Lahore, the well-known club invited Cllr Chaudary to play in the 18-hole tournament, which included mainly professionals and experienced players. Though Cllr Chaudary had only been playing golf for a year, he surprised and delighted the club, and himself, by scoring a hole in one in the competition.
"I was amazed when I got to the 14th hole and scored a hole-in-one," said Cllr Chaudary. "I know that professionals can play all of their life and not do that, and I had been playing for less than a year.
"The 14th hole was 138 yards and quite a difficult one, surrounded by bunkers and a water hazard. It was a bit of a fluke but everyone at the club was delighted and so was I."
