AN actuary from Brentford will be putting her best foot forward in this year's London marathon, to help charity Whizzkids.
Katherine Raine, a 27-year-old from Windmill Road who works for city firm Towers Perrin, said she had been inspired to run for the disabled children's mobility charity after she was forced to relearn how to walk after a rare bone condition left her in a wheelchair during her teenage years.
"I know from experience how hard it can be for youngsters with mobility problems," she told the Times, "so that's why I chose Whizzkids as my charity.
"There are over 70,000 disabled children in the UK desperately in need of mobility equipment to allow them to enjoy independence at home, at school and at play.
"Whizz-Kidz' aim is to help as many of those children as possible."
