AN ISLEWORTH resident has been given the opportunity to take part in a Trekforce Expedition' to Guyana, to undertake scientific research and conservation work.
David Thompson, of Ridgeway Road, will join a team of 20 people at the beginning of May, and travel to central Guyana, basing themselves in the Iwokrama Forest Reserve, which is home amongst other things, to the largest eagle in the world - the Harpy eagle.
"The aim of the expedition is not finalised yet," he admitted, "but it will probably be to construct a research station from which scientists from all over the world can come and base themselves to study wild life from the Amazon in its natural habitat."
Trekforce work is done in cooperation with the native government. He needs to raise £3,500, but has already raised a third of the required amount through working at Ealing hospital.
He can be contacted on 020 8560 6575 or on email at drwt2@hotmail.com
