A SPORTS cash boost from the New Opportunities Fund has been received by Stanley Junior School and it will go towards two new multi use games areas.
The Teddington school has secured £42,500 of lottery money and one games area, which will be on the site of the existing playground, will include a long jump pit and run up.
The other area will be new all-weather sports courts providing football, netball, basketball and tennis. Headteacher, Ian Dickenson, said: "This is fantastic news for Stanley.
"The lottery funding was available for schools not only to provide a step-change in the curriculum, but also to make the new facilities available for use by the wider community.
"We have developed good relationships with several organisations who will be able to take advantage of these facilities."
The school has also secured two other major grants - The London Marathon Charitable Trust and Hampton Fuel Allotment Charity have each awarded £20,000.
And funding has been received from trusts, businesses and the Local Education Authority and money has been raised through the Parent Staff Association.
Ceri Jones, New Opportunities Fund regional manager for London, said: "National Lottery players can take pride in the fact that they are helping to bring about such a positive change, widening availability and access to high quality sporting facilities in schools and communities across England."
