EALING council have delayed the introduction of a Controlled Parking Zone that shopkeepers in Chiswick claimed would be disastrous for business.
The Zone R Southfields' CPZ will now come into effect on March 22 - a week later than originally planned, as lineage and signage works are yet to be fully completed.
Cars parked in residents bays between 9am - 6pm Monday to Friday not displaying a valid permit or a Visitor Voucher will be issued with a PCN (Penalty Charge Notice).
30 minutes free parking is allowed in the Stop and Shop' bays located on Southfield Road and Hawkshead Road, though traders have lambasted this as woefully inadequate.
These Stop and Shop bays state that there is 30 minutes free parking then no return within one hour.
Local businesses say that without the introduction of Pay and Display' machines, to allow shoppers to stay longer, many of their businesses could be ruined, they claim.
