EXPERIENCED sports associations are being invited to help regenerate a disused sports and cricket ground in Hounslow.
The ground on Sutton Lane has been empty for nearly a year and tenants are being sought to bring long term sporting use and improvement for the local community.
The successful association or organisation will need to demonstrate a commitment to improving the sports grounds, along with evidence of financial support. The existing pavilion and clubhouse will need to be rebuilt because of vandalism, which occurred during the last year.
Nick Pratt, head of cultural and leisure partnerships for Hounslow Council, is confident that a suitable organisation can be found.
"There's a substantial amount of work to be undertaken within the immediate surroundings of the pavilion and clubhouse which will need to be dealt with quickly by the successful organisation to prevent further deterioration.
"However there is scope for greater use of the cricket facilities and this has always been, until last year, a very successful and popular resource for sport."
Hounslow Council is in contact with a number of cricketing associations to ensure the sports facilities are exposed in the market place as widely as possible.
