THE borough is renowned for its Royal heritage and now another building has been added to the hall of fame, as Prince Charles has taken up residence in East Twickenham.
Well, almost. One of his charities, Duchy Originals, who make organic biscuits and other foods, have moved into Ryde House on Richmond Road.
Niall Christian, a partner at Michael Rogers commercial property consultants, said: "It is a good thing for the borough that they want to be in Richmond. They loved the building and its history."
Ryde House was built in 1830 with a neighbouring property which has a tower, which was bought anonymously by the then Prince of Wales. It was a home and then a doctor's surgery before it fell into disrepair in the 1960s. It was about to be demolished, when a building society called Hawk bought it and repaired it - hence the big golden hawk on the front of the building.
"It is a beautiful building and has all the original period features," Mr Christian added.
