FOUR people were rescued from a tower block in Isleworth after their neighbour smelt smoke and alerted the fire brigade.
The fire started in the early hours of Tuesday morning on the seventh floor of a block of flats on Summerwood Road.
Two women, a man and a three-year-old boy were escorted to safety through an internal staircase. One of the women was then taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.
Fire crews from Heston, Twickenham and Richmond were called to the incident at 3.35am and had the fire under control within an hour. The damaged was restricted to within the flat. Aside from the quick response of the upstairs neighbour, other residents of the tower blocks were not aware of the blaze.
One woman outside Haweswater House said: "I saw the fire engine but I thought it was just someone stuck in the lift."
A spokesman for the Fire Service said the fire is being investigated but is believed to have started by accident.
