AN advertising hoarding along the M4 elevated section, which has only been installed for two weeks, will have to come down, as it does not conform to the specifications of its planning permission, making this the third incident in a series of recent blunders for hoarding company Van Wagner.
The hoarding, which is situated on the old Texaco Garage site in front of the derelict Westgate House along the Great West Road by Ealing Road, is not only in the wrong position but also bigger and higher than the specifications set out in the planning permission it received from Hounslow Council.
The number of words on the actual advertisement, which is strictly limited to six in the regulations, for safety reasons, has also been breached as the words Van Wagner' must be taken into account, according to guidelines.
The breaches mean that the advertising hoarding is clearly visible from the M4 elevated section, in a way that was not intended by the planning consent given and Hounslow Council are calling for the changes to be made immediately to conform with the original description.
A spokeswoman for Hounslow Council said: "We take a tough line on people who abuse their planning permission."
The word limit was also breached recently on another of Van Wagner's hoardings in Brentford, located above the new Casualty Plus site.
