DURING a football match at Brentford, a man attacked a player from the opposing side and was later charged with assault.
Owen Blair, aged 43, of Abbotsbury Gardens, Eastcote, admitted assaulting another man on December 21 last year and was remanded for full reports and to consider compensation.
Magistrates were told that during the match in the Chiswick and District League, Blair had walked up to one player and punched him. The referee sent him off for an unprovoked attack and his car number was taken and reported to the police.
Magistrates were told that it had been a good-natured game until the end and then developed into a fight and Blair had joined in. During his time playing football he maintained he had never been sent off before.
Magistrates asked for reports.
