THE Conservative's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Brentford and Isleworth, Alexander Northcote warned this week that the Liberal Democrats are drawing up plans to introduce new taxes to drive on local roads across Hounslow and that Labour is plotting to introduce nation-wide road charging.
The Liberal Democrats' proposals, which were exposed in a leaked copy of their draft pre-manifesto', according to Mr Northcote, outline congestion charging' in our town and city centres' as a Liberal Democrat priority'.
This expos comes on top of current work by Whitehall bureaucrats in the Department for Transport to introduce road charging' across the country.
Mr Northcote warned: "The cat is out of the bag Liberal Democrats are secretly planning to push for new anti-car taxes in high streets, city centres and local roads across the country, on top of existing taxes.
He added: "I am very concerned about these leaked proposals which would decimate trade and local businesses from Chiswick to Hounslow.
"The Labour Government and Liberal Democrats fail to understand that there aren't viable public transport alternatives and that extra taxes will hit the vulnerable the hardest like the elderly and the poor. This is why I have pledged to oppose these new taxes."
