TWO teams of 10 and 11 year olds from Ashton House in Isleworth were selected to take part in the St John's Ambulance National First Aid Competition yesterday, Thursday March 4.
Team one was made up of Mohammed Elgasim, Kabir Seehra, Ruchit Gupta Chaudhary and Jaipal Sachdev, while the second team consisted of Sophie Clark, Chloe Turner, Emily Watson and Harry Bourne.
The children travelled to the St John's Ambulance Headquarters in Ealing to take part in the competition.
The teams of four members were required to complete First Aid scenarios in pairs and in a group based on the Young Lifesaver Award Scheme (Parts 1 and 2) as well as a First Aid Quiz.
Every young person who took part received a certificate and a small personal prize.
The winners of the National Final will win £1,750 of equipment for their school, as well as individual prizes.
The runner up meanwhile, will receive a cheque for £750 to be spent on equipment for the school.
Miss Regan the Head Teacher of Ashton House said: "The two teams have been put in role play situations where they have had to demonstrate a range of skills and techniques to help them deal with asthma attacks, choking and a casualty with a head injury. They have also learnt how to make a 999 call and how to put the casualty in a recovery position."
The results of the competition were not known at the time of going to press but will be announced in next week's paper.
