Questionnaires are to be delivered to up to 20,000 homes this summer asking for views on plans to regenerate Gunnersbury Park.

The questionnaire will be delivered to homes within a one-mile radius of the park as well as residents' groups, sports clubs and the police.

The idea of solely distributing the questionnaire to households within a five-minute walk of the park was rejected last week by the park regeneration board because it was considered it would limit the consultation.

Copies of the questionniare, which will cost between £7,000 and £8,000 and be sent to homes next month, will help Hounslow and Ealing councils, which jointly manage the park, gather feedback about proposals incluing the sale of up to 5.6 acres land for housing.

It is proposed up to 60 two-storey houses would be built on a strip of land along Lionel Road North to fill part of a £16.8m shortfall needed to regenerate the park.

Plans include spending £9.2m repairing and transforming the Large Mansion House into a function and meetings venue and £6.1m to turn the Small Mansion House into the new home of Gunnersbury Park Museum.

A further £34.8m would be spent restoring the Stable Block, which would be used as an accompanying museum and as storage space for the collections and it is estimated up to £15m is needed to create a sports hub.

An exhibition of the plans will be held in the park’s museum and the questionnaire will also be available on Hounslow Council's website.
