The biggest borough-wide campaign to wipe out graffiti in Hounslow kicks off in July.
Hounslow Council has teamed up with police, Network Rail and Virgin Media for a week of scrubbing the borough clean, starting on July 6.
Already a team of cleaners has targeted 47 parks and 65 shopping areas as part of the £280,000 campaign.
Council leader Councillor Peter Thompson said: “It’s really encouraging to see people who are already working to wipe out graffiti in Hounslow are prepared to come together and see what else can be done to tackle the problem.
“We hope working closely with other people will help us to achieve our ambitious goal of reducing graffiti in the borough by a massive 50 per cent.
“Wipe Out Graffiti week in July is a great opportunity for everyone who wants to make Hounslow a better place to come together and take action.
“In the meantime we are now removing twice as much graffiti every week, and want as many people as possible to report graffiti whenever they see it.”
Although legally the responsibility of the property owner, the council will now remove the majority of graffiti from private property free of charge.
The council can also provide free graffiti removal kits for businesses and residents where appropriate.
Anyone who wants to report graffiti can visit hounslow.gov.uk/graffiti and fill in an online form, email streetcare@hounslow.gov.uk or call 020 8583 5555.
