Come rain or come shine, through colds and coughs a Whitton pupil has maintained a 100 per cent attendance record throughout his five-year stay at school.
Jamie Davies, a year 11 student at Whitton School and Sports College, is sitting his exams and is “proud” of his achievement.
He said: “My parents were keen to ensure I attended classes from when I was at Nelson Primary School.
“I soon realised if you missed a lesson this usually meant extra work had to be done and when your subjects got harder it became more and more difficult to catch up.
“I have always enjoyed coming to school and this too has proven to be a factor in motivating me to attend on days when I had a cough or generally felt under the weather. I am proud of my 100 per cent attendance and grateful this has been recognised by the school.”
Khadjia Halpenny, key stage four co-ordinator for Whitton School, said Jamie’s excellent attendance was inspirational and would lead to a bright future. She said: “He greets every day with a smile and has an incredibly positive attitude to life.”
