A packed service said farewell to 16-year-old Daniel Izquierdo killed in a road accident.
The former Christ’s School pupil, who was studying to be a mechanic at Feltham Skills Centre, died after his moped was in a collision with a bus on Kingston Bridge on April 18.
The Catholic service, held at St Winefride’s Church, Leyborne Park, Kew, today at 10am, was given by Father Tom Scannell who commented on how many people had turned out to pay tribute to the student.
Father Scannell asked the congregation to remember the wonderful things Daniel had achieved in his life, and commented on the numbers present to pay tribute.
He said: “The amount of people here is a tribute to his life and the people he touched.”
Mum Jhenni Izquierdo shared her memories describing her son as fun loving and always active.
She said: “He loved bringing others into his world of action.”
Mrs Izquierdo added: “The love for his grandparents was unconditional.”
She added Daniel was a loving and helpful brother and always wanted to make others happy.
The service began with the congregation singing the hymn All Things Bright and Beautiful, followed by a reading from Daniel’s godmother, Fiona Bond.
A second reading was done by Christine Brett, headteacher of the St Elizabeth's Catholic School, Queens Road, Richmond.
Daniel’s cousins, who knew him as Dan Dan, left floral tributes, and his mum described him as a devoted family member.
School friends were clearly moved as they were asked to reflect at the end of the service during which R Kelly’s The World’s Greatest was played – a song chosen from Daniel’s iPod.
