The family of Brentford beauty Sahar Daftary, who fell 150ft to her death, have said they will not give up their fight for justice.
The 23-year-old model died just days before Christmas after falling from the 12th floor balcony of her former partner’s flat in Salford Quays, Manchester.
Rashid Jamil, 33, was arrested shortly after Miss Daftary’s death but was released without charge by Manchester police last Friday after being quizzed several times by detectives.
While initial investigations by police suggested Miss Daftary’s death was suicide or accidental the family have always believed her death to be suspicious.
Her sister Mariya Massumi, 34, who works in a hairdressers in St John’s Road, Isleworth, said the family was now commissioning its own investigation in the hope of finding answers.
“We’re very disappointed with the decision,” she told the Hounslow Guardian.
“My sister was only 23 and had so much to live for. We’re a very tight family - we are very close. My mother’s lost her youngest child, she visits Sahar’s grave every day.
“It’s been five months but the pain is still there. Everytime I wake up I feel I’m getting better but we are all missing her. She was the baby of the family."
She added: “We’ve had so many nice messages. We’ve had support from a lot of good people. That makes us strong.
“Whether it takes us 20 years or 40 years we want justice.”
Miss Daftary, who was crowned the 2007 Face of Asia, had married Mr Jamil in a Muslim ceremony, at the Holiday Inn in Brentford in 2007.
The couple separated shortly before Miss Daftary’s death, after she discovered he was already married with two children.
Miss Daftary’s family have launched a website to gather donations to carry on their fight and to create awareness of the practice of polygamy in Muslim marriages.
