An award-winning Hounslow filmmaker was plucked from hundreds of London businesses to have dinner with Gordon Brown.

Hanif Khan was chosen by MP Alan Keen to dine with the Prime Minister because of his pioneering work in the community – and just four weeks later the father-of-two was chosen to film Sarah Brown in the family room at No 10.

He said: “It was such a honour to meet the man who runs the country and because I could take my father with me it was a very proud moment.

"To sit next to and look Gordon Brown in the eye was an incredible experience and to be able to shake the hand of the man who runs the country was an honour."

Mr Khan, 38, said he chose to take his father, Abdul, because he helped turn his business from a hobby into a success.

He said: “Meeting Sarah Brown four weeks later to film her was fascinating.

“She was very friendly. Because we set up in the family room we had to be careful not to film the scene out of the window or any of the family portraits for security reasons, but it all went very smoothly.”

The former IT worker, whose company Video-shoot Productions has helped children in Hounslow by inspiring them to get creative and work together, has filmed rehabilitation projects set to roll out across the UK for young people.

He said: “Seeing children get inspired is brilliant and very fulfilling.”
