Sick of graffiti? That’s the question posed by an eye-catching poster that will be displayed on billboards around the borough as part of a campaign to rid Hounslow of unsightly scrawls.

The council is stepping up its fight against graffiti by increasing street patrols and encouraging residents to help them wipe out the scrawls by reporting graffiti whenever they see it.

Almost £300,000 has been invested since October in a bid to cut the problem in half.

The number of people reporting cases of graffiti has risen by about 25 per cent since October and the council hopes to increase this figure further with the launch of the poster.

Council leader Peter Thompson said: “We’ve invested an extra £280,000 to help us wipe out graffiti and there are now twice as many removal teams out on the streets.

“But we’re not complacent, there’s a lot of work to do just to keep on top of the graffiti problem.

“If people keep reporting graffiti then we will keep removing it as quickly as we can.”

To report graffiti email streetcare@hounslow.gov.uk or contact the council’s call centre on 020 8583 5555.
