Elderly residents were unable to attend their regular social activities after vandals attacked Age Concern Hounslow’s minibus.
The windscreen wipers and wing mirror of the vehicle, which provides an essential means of transport for elderly people, were broken and further damage was attempted by the vandals.
As a result, the minibus was out of action for part of the week leaving a number of elderly residents unable to attend the social centre for hot lunches and activities.
Seema Bhogal, diversity and development manager for the charity, said: “The minibus was unable to bring people in for lunch for two days, and luckily we didn’t have any trips planned for this week.
“But it has caused us a great inconvenience and to our clients as some of them went without a hot cooked meal or having interaction with their friends at the social club.
“The vandalism will result in an increased cost to the charity.”
The incident happened on Monday night at Age Concern’s centre in Albany Road, Brentford.
