Four people have been arrested and three charged after an armed robbery at a Hounslow post office.

In April this year, it was reported to police that a man entered a post office in Brabazon Road and threatened the shopkeeper with a gun as he demanded cash.

Police claim that he forced the staff member to go into the safe room so that he could steal £136,774.44.

The suspect ordered employees to go into a back room where he removed the CCTV hard drive and then escaped, witnesses say.

As police have investigated since, they claim to have found that this was potentially part of a wider conspiracy involving even more people.

On Friday, August 30, warrants were conducted at locations in London, Surrey and Hampshire which led to four arrests.

Two men, aged 38 and 65, and two women, aged 39 and 44, were arrested on suspicion of:

  • Conspiracy to steal
  • Conspiracy to possess criminal property
  • Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice

The 65-year-old man was released on bail while the other three people were charged with the listed offences and remanded in custody by Wimbledon Magistrates.

They will next appear at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, September 27.

A man has been charged previously in relation to this matter.

Detective Inspector Ari Yoganathan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We know our communities stand firm with us against the use of firearms and support us in our efforts to tackle robbery.

“We are committed to reducing crime that impacts our communities and keeping residents, businesses and staff safe.”
