One of Richmond's oldest pubs has reopened following a major refurbishment.
The Roebuck, a 300-year-old pub on Richmond Hill, has been refurbished after a six-figure investment from pub company, Greene King.
The revamped Roebuck now has a polished interior, and improved drink options.
The refurbishment included restoring original open fireplaces, traditional leather furniture, original artwork, terracotta and parquet flooring, and brass accent finishes.
Cosy drinking ‘nooks’ now sit alongside an open-plan lounge in the newly extended bar on the ground floor.
The expanded first floor offers a dining room featuring a parkland mural that can be booked for business meetings and special events for up to 60 guests.
The refurbished Roebuck is spread across two floors with specific areas for drinking and dining.
The first floor can be reserved for business meetings or special events hosting up to 60 guests.
British pub historian and writer Pete Brown was commissioned to bring the tale of the Roebuck to life.
This tale includes links to the famous painter JMW Turner, the royal parkland of Richmond Hill and the Arcadian Thames.
Mr Brown's work was showcased at the official launch event on March 20, in which he hosted a small talk on the pub’s history and recent refurbishment.
Alex Dawson, Business Unit Director for Greene King, said: "With a vista that has been celebrated by some of the world’s greatest artists, it was key that the Roebuck’s unique heritage continues to have a special place in the history of Richmond.
"The refurbishment marks the start of an exciting new chapter for the pub and really showcases the pub’s story and originality, with every aspect of the Roebuck elevated, from its menu to its vintage interiors."
He added: "We’re proud that this investment has enabled the Roebuck to become as splendid as its view, offering a warm and welcome space that celebrates a piece of history that can be enjoyed by generations to come."
The pub now serves a broader range of drinks including its own Roebuck Pale Ale, alongside cask ales, new wines, cocktails, non-alcoholic options, and daily barista-made coffees and hot chocolates.
A brand-new food menu includes classics like Welsh Rarebit Sausage Rolls, the Roebuck Ploughman's Sharing Platter, and the Great British Cheese Toastie.
The Roebuck opens daily from 11am.
