Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and “left bleeding” at a busy underground station in London.

On November 29, 2023 at around 10:15pm, a man was walking down the stairs at Piccadilly Circus underground station walking in the direction of the Piccadilly Line platforms.

The man was then pushed by an unknown man who allegedly acted aggressively before hitting the victim on the back of the head.

The victim attempted to board the train and was punched in the face by the man which caused him to bleed “profusely.”

The suspect is described by British Transport Police as mixed race and around 6ft in height, believed to be his early 20s or late teens.

He was wearing a blue Crombie-type coat with a zip puffa on the inside during the incident.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was left bleeding after an assault.

“At around 10.15pm on Wednesday 29 November, the victim was walking down the stairs in Piccadilly Circus underground station toward the Piccadilly Line platforms.

“During the walk, he was pushed by an unknown man who continued to act aggressively before hitting the victim in the back of the head.

“As the victim attempted to get on the train, the man punched him in the face, causing his nose to bleed profusely.

“The suspect is described as mixed race and around 6ft in his early 20s or late teens. He was wearing a blue Crombie-type coat with a zip puffa on the inside.

“Officers would like to hear from anyone who was witness to the assault or has any information that would assist their enquiries.

“Anyone who witnessed what happened or has any information is asked to contact the British Transport Police by texting 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 73 of 30/11/23.”
