Residents were evacuated from their homes in Richmond earlier today after a suspected bomb scare.
Police were called to reports of possible aircraft ordinance in a garden this morning (May 2).
London Fire Brigade also attended the scene as investigations were ongoing.
Residents were informed and cleared from the area whilst the item was being checked. After officers carried out a controlled explosion in an open space, it was found to be no danger “whatsoever” to the public.
The item was from World War Two and was anti-aircraft ordinance.
A spokesperson for Richmond MPS said: “Police were called to an address in Richmond to reports of possible aircraft ordinance in the rear garden.
“LFB are also in attendance alongside specialist units whilst this is being investigated.
