Richmond Council has "commenced its legal progress" to move travellers from Kew Green.
The Council tweeted this morning that its officers were on site to carry out welfare checks and to start the legal process to move them on.
It said that updates will be provided throughout.
A spokesperson for Richmond Council said: "The Council has now commenced the legal process to obtain and enforce a Possession Order.
"It is expected that the process will take a number of days.
"This is necessary due to a High Court order last year that denied the Council’s request to extend the previous expedited injunction process, in common with numerous other local authorities.
"Therefore, the Council now has to go via the courts each time."
We are aware that travellers have arrived on Kew Green. Our officers are on site to carry out the welfare checks and commence the legal process to move them on. We will provide updates throughout.
