Hounslow Council's formal response to the Government's plans to expand Heathrow has been voted through with cross party support.
Lead member for aviation Councillor Barbara Reid called the Department for Transport's consultation, Adding Capacity at Heathrow, a "farce" and said no other industry "would be allowed to do what the aviation industry is already doing to us".
Borough schools, she added, already suffer with "stop start education" because of constant aircraft noise overhead.
Coun Adrian Lee thanked Coun Reid for her leadership throughout the 14-week consultation.
He told his fellow councillors they have the duty to warn residents that if expansion goes ahead property prices will go down.
"We have to paint a bleak picture so that people grip this. It's going to affect very real, very ordinary people."
Before the decision was voted through, Coun Reid said the fight against expansion was "not for the faint-hearted" and that the battle would not end with the consultation's February 27 deadline.
