Platinum Jubilee road closures Richmond: Full details

The nation is gearing up for the festivities with a four-day bank holiday weekend from June 2 to June 5.

Huge events are being held in London for the public, including a pop concert outside Buckingham Palace with performances from Alicia Keys, Queen and Elton John.

There will be a pageant featuring marching bands, circus acts and a dragon puppet and a service at St Paul’s Cathedral. 

More than 2,800 will be lit across the world for the Queen.

Nine London bridges across the River Thames will even be lit up to form the world’s longest public artwork, known as Illuminated River, from Lambeth Bridge to London Bridge. 

Street parties will pop up in every London borough to mark the occasion. In Richmond upon Thames, there will be 331 street closures and two high street closures so residents can celebrate.

Richmond Council waived the usual fee required to close streets as a special offer to residents.

Street parties will kick off in the borough this Saturday (May 28) through to the end of June. 

There will also be picnics in the London Wetland Centre, Hampton Wick and Udney Hall Gardens along with a Teddy Bears’ Picnic for children in Richmond Park. Whitton High Street will also be holding an afternoon tea on June 3 from 2pm to 6pm.

The council has given the go-ahead for 331 street closures and two high street closures in the borough.
