Voters in Richmond will soon be heading to the polls to choose new councillors to represent them for the next four years.
All 54 seats on the council will be up for grabs in the elections, which will take place on May 5 across all London boroughs and hundreds of other seats across the UK.
In Richmond, a total of 167 candidates will be battling it out for 54 seats across 18 wards.
The Liberal Democrats won control of the council from the Conservatives in 2018.
This council is made up of 39 Liberal Democrats, 11 Conservatives, three Green Party councillors and one Independent Liberal. A boundary review means some wards in Richmond will change, but the number of wards in the borough will remain the same at 18.
Labour and the Conservatives each have 54 candidates vying for a seat in next month’s elections, with 48 Liberal Democrat candidates in the running.
There are also six candidates from the Green Party, three Women’s Equality Party candidates and two Independents.
Affordable housing is a key issue for voters to consider, including the level proposed for the Mortlake Brewery site.
Candidates’ positions on cut-through traffic in Richmond Park, plans for the Twickenham Riverside development, school provision and council tax may also sway voters.
