Police have arrested a man in Richmond Park after they said he breached his non-molestation order.

Images posted by Royal Parks Police to Twitter today (Wednesday, October 27) showed the scene in which Met Police officers appeared to be arresting the person in question.

Several police cars and an officer riding in a special buggy designed for the parks could be seen surrounding a car in which the offender was reportedly caught in.

In a statement announcing the news posted to Twitter, a spokesperson for the Royal Parks Police force said:

"A male has been arrested in #RichmondPark for breaching his non-molestation order. He initially refused to get out of his car and started the engine before being blocked in by @MPSRoyal_Parks @MetTaskforce dog unit and @MPSRichmond officers."

The police account also linked to a website used by the police for victims of abuse to report it.

"If you are a victim of domestic violence/abuse, don’t suffer in silence, report it to police," Royal Parks Police added.

Non-molestation orders are issued to prohibit an abuser from 'using or threatening physical violence, intimidating, harassing, pestering or communicating with' a victim.

They can often prevent the abuser coming within a certain distance of the person they had targeted, or their home or work place.

Richmond Park, London's biggest green space, has witnessed several criminal activities in recent weeks, including a spate of bicycle thefts by thieves wielding a machete.
