Respects will be paid tomorrow to well-known Twickenham resident Freda Hammerton.
Lifelong Twickenham resident, Freda was the daughter of a Thames waterman and lighterman.
She was the great niece of Walter Hammerton who founded the eponymous ferry which plies between Marble Hill Park and Ham House.
Freda was a retired medical secretary, who attended Gumley School in Isleworth,
In 2007 Freda spoke to the Richmond & Twickenham Times about her memories as a young girl who waved the boats off to Dunkirk in May 1940.
Freda’s funeral will be on Thursday 26 August, with a service at 12:40pm at Mortlake Crematorium.
This will be followed by the burial at Twickenham Cemetery at 13:30pm.
A Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday 16th October at 11am at St Mary’s Twickenham.
